Plagiarism Policy
The Journal of Public Administration, Policy, and Institutional Practice (JPPIP) is committed to maintaining the highest standards of academic integrity and takes plagiarism and academic misconduct very seriously. All submitted manuscripts must be original works that have not been published or submitted elsewhere.
Definition of Plagiarism
Plagiarism includes, but is not limited to:
-
Direct copying of text, data, images, or ideas from other sources without proper citation
-
Paraphrasing substantial parts of another work without appropriate acknowledgment
-
Self-plagiarism, including the reuse of significant portions of an author’s previously published work without proper citation or justification
-
Submitting work that is substantially similar to another published or unpublished manuscript
Plagiarism Screening
All manuscripts submitted to JPPIP are screened for plagiarism using reliable plagiarism detection software before being sent for peer review. The editorial team evaluates similarity reports to determine the nature and extent of overlap.
Similarity Threshold
As a general guideline:
-
Manuscripts with a similarity index of more than 25% may be rejected or returned to the authors for revision.
-
Similarity arising from references, commonly used terms, or properly cited quotations may be excluded from the evaluation at the editor’s discretion.
Handling of Plagiarism Cases
If plagiarism is detected at any stage of the publication process:
-
The manuscript may be rejected immediately.
-
Authors may be asked to revise the manuscript to address minor similarity issues.
-
In cases of serious plagiarism, the journal reserves the right to ban the author(s) from future submissions and to inform relevant institutions if necessary.
Post-Publication Plagiarism
If plagiarism is discovered after publication, JPPIP will investigate the case following COPE guidelines. Appropriate actions may include issuing a correction, retraction, or expression of concern, depending on the severity of the misconduct.
Author Responsibility
Authors are responsible for ensuring that their manuscripts are free from plagiarism and that all sources are properly cited. Submission of a manuscript to JPPIP implies that the authors accept and agree to this plagiarism policy.
